What We Do

Much of our work is the renovation and extension of existing homes. These range from modest single storey extensions to enlarge kitchens and create ‘open plan living’ to major extensions and refurbishments on larger properties. We work with local planning authorities to achieve an excellent success rate with planning applications and building control approval.

Genevieve Wells

BA (Hons) FCIAT (Fellow)

In 2005 Genevieve graduated in Interior Architecture at the Farnham University of Creative Arts. Whilst studying she worked part time for several architects to develop her CAD skills and to put her ahead of her peers once she had graduated. In the early part of her career she worked as an Interior designer specialising in the office, retail and leisure sector. She then changed paths to focus on residential architecture. Once she had established a good reputation as an architectural technician she was head hunted several times by large developers such as Crest Nicolson, Michael Shanley and eventually she accepted a role as a technical coordinator for Redrow Homes.

This opened up many avenues and contacts for the future. In 2008 she was offered a position as a designer with a Farnham Architect working on high end residential houses. In 2009 she branched out on her own and became a multi-award winner for ‘Best in Service and ‘Architectural Designer’. Genevieve is now 1 of only 16 female Fellow Architectural Technologists (out of 8629 members globally) due to her dedication to the industry and becoming the first member to win Architectural Technologist of Europe in the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2015. In 2023 the chance to partner up with Axminster Design and Build came along and the opportunity to work alongside each other is a very exciting opportunity for Genevieve and her team as well as us.

What’s the Difference Between an Architect, Architectural Technologist, an Architectural Designer or Technician?

For domestic building projects it’s always worthwhile using a professional. An Architect will be registered with the RIBA, a Chartered Technologist with the CIAT and a designer or technician may have a degree, diploma or sometimes just experience in their field. They can help you establish your brief, budget, planning constraints, building regs, help you select a builder and inspect their work.
